The oil seal of the passenger car, also known as the shaft seal, is a device part used in the machine to prevent fluid (mostly lubricating oil) from overflowing from the joint (mostly the joint surface of the part or the rotating shaft). Static seals and dynamic seals (general reciprocating motion) are called seals. The representative form of the oil seal is TC oil seal, which is a rubber completely covered double lip oil seal with a self-tightening spring, generally speaking, the oil seal often refers to this tc skeleton oil seal.

The commonly used materials of oil seal are: nitrile rubber, fluorine rubber, silicone rubber, acrylic rubber, polyurethane, polytetrafluoroethylene and so on. When selecting the material of the oil seal, it is necessary to consider the compatibility of the material to the working medium, the adaptability to the working temperature range and the ability of the lip to follow the rotating shaft when rotating at high speed. Generally, the temperature of the lip edge of the oil seal is 20~50℃ higher than the temperature of the working medium, and attention should be paid to the selection of oil seal materials.

All parts of the running body that have liquid lubricating oil in the box and are connected with the outside need oil seals. Some are rubber, some are metal, most are steel rubber, such as crankshaft rear oil seal, transmission front and rear oil seal, left and right shaft oil seal, main reducer front oil seal, air compressor crankshaft oil seal and so on.

Matters needing attention

1. Preparation and precautions before starting

a, a comprehensive inspection of the mechanical seal, as well as the installation of auxiliary devices and pipelines are complete, and whether they meet the technical requirements.

b, mechanical seal before starting static pressure test, check whether the mechanical seal leakage phenomenon. If more leakage, should find out the cause and try to eliminate. If it still does not work, disassemble it for inspection and reinstall it. General static pressure test pressure with 2~3 kg/cm2.

c. Press the pump to turn the wheel and check whether it is light and uniform. If the turning wheel is difficult or does not move, you should check whether the assembly size is wrong and whether the installation is reasonable.

2. Installation and shutdown

A. The sealing cavity should be filled with liquid before starting. For conveying the solidified medium, the sealing chamber is heated by steam to melt the medium. The car must be turned before starting to prevent soft ring breakage caused by sudden starting.

b, for the mechanical seal using the pump outer sealing oil system, the oil sealing system should be started first. Finally stop the oil sealing system after stopping.

c, hot oil pump after the shutdown can not immediately stop sealing the oil cavity and end seal cooling water, should be until the oil temperature at the end seal to 80 degrees below, you can stop the cooling water, so as not to damage the sealing parts.

3. Operation

a, if there is a slight leakage after the pump starts, it should be observed for a period of time. If the continuous operation for 4 hours, the leakage is still not reduced, the pump should be stopped for inspection.

b, the operating pressure of the pump should be stable, and the pressure fluctuation is not more than 1 kg/cm2.

c, the pump in operation, should avoid the phenomenon of evacuation, so as not to cause dry friction of the sealing surface and seal damage.

d, the sealing situation should be checked frequently. In operation, when the leakage exceeds the standard, the heavy oil is not more than 5 drops/min, and the light oil is not more than 10/ min. If there is no improvement trend within 2-3 days, the pump should be stopped to check the sealing device.

The main factors causing oil seal leakage

Oil seal seal is not tight is the main factor causing oil leakage. When the shaft is worn and grooves are formed, it can not be sealed even if the new oil seal is replaced, because the contact pressure between the oil seal lip and the shaft drops, resulting in too small interference between the oil seal lip diameter and the shaft diameter after installation. Taking the crankshaft oil seal of S195 diesel engine as an example, the main reasons for its weak seal are as follows:

① The oil seal manufacturing quality is poor;

② Shaft or bearing quality is poor;

③ Improper use and maintenance;

④ Improper installation;

⑤ Improper storage, caused by environmental pollution.
